NRCDV Publications

The U.S. National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) provides technical assistance, training and information on domestic violence and related issues. The NRCDV supports the efforts of all individuals and groups working throughout the United States to respond to and prevent domestic violence, including: community-based domestic violence programs; state coalitions; federal, state and local government agencies; Indian tribal organizations; business and community groups; policy leaders; the media; and all others seeking information on domestic violence. The NRCDV works to increase responsiveness to the needs identified by communities of color and other traditionally underserved populations. Building Comprehensive Solutions to Domestic Violence
Building Comprehensive Solutions to Domestic Violence (BCSDV) is a national initiative to help domestic violence organizations collaborate more effectively in their communities and build visions, policies, and practices that respond to the current realities facing battered women and their children, especially those living in poverty. Initially funded by the Ford Foundation, the BCSDV is an ongoing project of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, in collaboration with Greater Hartford Legal Aid, Inc. and the University of Iowa School of Social Work.

BCSDV National Training Initiative to Enhance Collaboration
As a means of enabling domestic violence organizations to play a broader collaborative effort in the community, the BCSDV initiative of the NRCDV developed three training curricula for the staff of grassroots domestic violence organizations. The three curricula are interrelated and build on each other, although each can stand alone as a teaching unit. Each curriculum contains an introductory discussion of the material, a suggested schedule, material to be copied as transparencies for overhead projectors, handouts to be duplicated for participants, and substantive discussion of each section for the trainer.

Women of Color Network (WOCN)

Created in 1997, the national Women of Color Network (WOCN) promotes and supports networking and leadership development for women of color advocates and activists working in fields of domestic violence, sexual assault and other fields related to violence against women and their families. The Network seeks to enhance the capacity of these advocates and activists to define and develop culturally specific approaches to strengthen the response to various and interconnected modes of violence within their communities.
