- Career Development Grants are provided to women who hold a bachelor's degree and are preparing to advance their careers, change careers, or re-enter the work force. Special consideration is given to AAUW members, women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in non-traditional fields.
- Continuing Education Fellowships and Grants are provided to women for educational, project and professional support, as well as for post-baccalaureate study or research in the U.S. Some awards allow for study in a country other than the applicant's own.
- American Fellowships provide support to women doctoral candidates completing dissertations or scholars seeking funds for post-doctoral research leave from accredited institutions. The program offers three awards: Post-Doctoral Research Leave Fellowships, Dissertation Fellowships and the Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grants.
- International Fellowships are only available for full-time study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and who have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree by September 1, 2005. Graduate and postgraduate study at accredited institutions are supported.

The American Association of University Women Honolulu Branch Educational Fund provides grants to non-American women from Asia and the Pacific who are already engaged in a profession, with a three to four month sabbatical in Hawaii. Applicants must be employed at an institution that contributed to the development of the country and be able to present a proposal for special study.
