Summary

Silent Epidemic: A Survey of Violence Among Young Asian American Women by the National Asian Women's Health Organization (2002)

This report is on a California state-wide study to examine the impact of sexual violence, intimate partner violence and stalking on young Asian American women. The study examines levels of awareness, prevalence, and access to services. It also addresses cultural and institutional barriers that Asian American victims of sexual violence, intimate partner violence and stalking may face. The study includes recommendations of ways to address violence in the Asian American community, with special attention given to public awareness and education as well as cultural sensitivity training for service providers to enhance their response to the needs of this population.
