INFORMATION: The Civil Legal Institute Project (CLIP) is a two day Institute designed for nonprofit nongovernmental (non-attorney) advocates that offers basic training on advocacy and community organizing on behalf of survivors of violence against women. The CLI provides advocates with the tools to enrich and expand advocacy with individual survivors, to organize within their communities, and to build relationships with other social and economic justice initiatives within their jurisdictions by providing in-depth training on core skills including safety planning intake/screening, assessing dangerousness of abusers, preserving confidentiality, organizing communities, enhancing protection order practice and strategies, assisting immigrant survivors, engaging with faith communities, employing critical thinking skills, and upgrading other advocacy techniques.
Faculty this year will include representatives from the National Latino Alliance for the Elimination of Domestic Violence (ALIANZA), the Asian and Pacific Islander Institute on Domestic Violence, the Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community, and the Sheila Wellstone Institute, as well as CLIP consultants Barbara J. Hart, Jennifer Rose, Kimberly Tolhurst, Rebekah Lee, and Erika Sussman.
